Pete the Cat

Last year, we decided to invest in a membership to the Rose, a theater for children and families, in Omaha Nebraska. The Rose had a great line up of plays last year including The Cat in the Hat, Charlotte's Web, and Mary Poppins. We spent the season attending shows as a family or sometimes with another family. This past spring, when they announced their membership drive, I did not hesitate to sign us up for another season.

A few weeks ago, my daughter asked when we would be returning to the Rose. It was exciting to tell her very soon! The first show of the season is opening this weekend, Pete the Cat: The Musical; and based on the Rose's website this is the world premiere of this production! My understanding is that it is based on the books, Pete the Cat: Rocking in My School Shoes and Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes created and illustrated by James Dean and written by Eric Litwin. Information on the show's webpage suggests that it is an hour long and best for ages three and up. Sounds like a perfect fit for our family!

In preparation for our family night out to see Pete the Cat: The Musical, I ordered a copy of Pete the Cat: Rocking in My School Shoes from Amazon. We spent breakfast watching the videos found here and read the book this morning. I found a coloring page via Pinterest here and my daughter also drew Pete the Cat free hand during our read aloud time this morning!

Both kids really enjoyed the videos and the book this morning. Here's hoping we all enjoy the show, too!

Do you take your children to the theater? What plays have you seen with your kids?
