A few days ago we had the great pleasure of attending the Omaha Symphony's Symphony Spooktacular, a Halloween concert that is part of the Omaha Symphony's Family Series of Concerts.
We have attended family concerts at the Holland Center before, but this is the first year we have attended the Halloween concert. They invite the children to dress up in their costumes, provide activities for the children to participate in before then concert begins, and have trick-or-treating afterwards.
My husband and I were taking Jasmine and Bob the Builder. My little Jasmine has a beautiful costume, but she needed some shoes. Fortunately, I was able to get some on sale prior to leaving for the concert! I had one very happy princess.
One of the activities they have for children is an opportunity to learn more about instruments. Both of my children are taking violin lessons and my husband is also a musician. So there is no shortage of music exposure in our home. The kids are also learning about the tin whistle in CC, but how exciting it is touch and try playing other instruments. We met some friends at the Holland Center and we were having so much fun, we lost track of time. Finding seats proved to be difficult as this is a very popular family concert to attend. We finally found seats up in Tier 2!
The concert was very enjoyable providing exposure to not only the orchestra itself, but also ballet, acting, and singing.
We have really enjoyed the family concerts in the past and look forward to attending more in the new year.
